OOTG no more :)

I regret to enform you that OOTG has decided to call it a day. Yarky will be going on to do other things, while the rest of the band has decided to go in entirely a new direction, but OOTG will be playing no more gigs. Apologies to all the great fans who've stuck by us for the past three years - we enjoyed our time with you and hope you got some joy out of our music.

There's still a few albums left but we won't be making any more and will no doubt stop selling them as we wind up what's left of the OOTG machine. Thank you to everyone for your support over the past 3 years. Love you all.

Long time!

Hello! :)

Gosh, this is embarrassing, haven't really done any updates in quite a while! Ofcourse, part of the excuse is that I spend so much time writing on myspace that I get a little tired of it :) But to be honest, I've been none web orientated for a couple of months. For those of you who read the myspace site you'll know I lost all my gear - my guitar, amp, pedals, everything - a few months ago. Since then I've been trying to scrape together money to rebuild the bear minimum I need for the band. The ensuing poverty has caused me to move house (I'm now house sharing)... and I've not had an internet connection at home for a month... excuses, excuses, excuses.

Ofcourse, OOTG hasn't been asleep. We've had a few gigs to keep things 'ticking over'. In fact, it's been quality over quantity lately - Some fantastic gigs at Varsity in Bolton, Pink Picnic in Huddersfield and L of a Night in Halifax! Some of the best crowds we've ever had and we're fast selling out of our first album "Talking About Thinking About Saying It."

We've not been entirely taking it easy. There's at least 3 brand new songs that are slowly coming near to completion and we hope to be playing at least a couple of them at some of our upcoming gigs.

No - we've not heard from any record labels, there's no Simon Cowell-esque suited A&R type knocking on our door begging to sign us up yet - and we still don't really care. The love's still there, our fanbase keeps on growing around the world and we can't tell you enough how much we appreciate all your support. Keep on rockin' beautiful people.

OOTG Tour

Hi guys,

We've had a massive response to our request for help with a tour and have now put a tour manager in place. We should be able to announce the dates very soon - but it's looking like we're going to be able to cover most of the country.

DESIGNERS:

We've had lots of you saying you'd like to help design a poster or album cover. When the tour is announced please pick a gig you'd like to do a poster for (in your local area) and send the result to root@outofthegray.com. Any questions, just email us at the same address. We'll be picking our favourite poster for each part of the tour and using that in all our local press.

We'll be picking our favourite artist to help us design our album cover.

HELP:

Many of you have generously offered help: either with booking or promoting. We'll be emailing you back when the tour is booked to send you stuff to help us. If you'd like to get involved please email us again at root@outofthegray.com.

PROMOTERS:

If you'd like to book OOTG to play your venue please contact root@outofthegray.com with details. Thank you.

New EP review on Glasswerk

Hi guys,

Check out the following link for a review of "Sugar Coated Lies": http://www.glasswerk.co.uk/index2.php?db=national&page=reviews,review&id=4549

"When Folk Rock hero Neil Young (I know, I wasn’t born either) sang ‘Out of the Blue and into the Black’ he omitted something important. It’s not enough to be out of the Blue. Welcome Bolton five-piece, Out of the Gray, with their brand of idiosyncratic acoustic folk pop loveliness on new EP, Sugar Coated Lies.

Opener ‘Washed Away’, complete with Nirvana riff and throaty K T Tunstall vocals, starts ever so sedately before exploding into a tumult of radio friendly harmonies so sweet it’d leave James Blunt quaking in his beautiful boots.

Second track ‘Butterflies’ is the pure distillation of summertime blues let down slightly by overly trite lyrics.

‘Air to Breath’, meanwhile, is massive. Mixing the grandiose sentiment of Coldplay with vocals reminiscent of The Corrs, the song shuttles along on a guitar line Johnny Marr would be proud of.

The EP finishes on the weakest of the four tracks, ‘Dream between the lines’ a light bouncy tune which, sadly, never really goes anywhere interesting.

Bored of waiting for the next Magic Numbers album? Sugar Coated Lies, Recorded at (Elbows studio of choice) Blueprint Studios, is the perfect answer.

Not since Peter Kay has Bolton had a happier shiny new export than the, just plain lovely, ‘Out of the Gray’.

New OOTG Song

Well they've done it again, I just got to hear the latest new song, and it's absolutely awesome.  Serious contendor, for my new favourite song.

I love it so much I'm playing the Sheffield gig with them on Saturday, so come along and be the first none OOTG members to hear it live, it really is going to be a hit!
